1 night 662 miles from last stop 11 hours driving

Many Wal-Mart Supercenters allow RVs to park in their parking lots over night since they are open 24 hours.

This was our first overnighter in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Now that we were seasoned Rvers, we were starting to learn the insider scoop. Many 24-hour Wal-Mart Supercenters allow overnight parking, because you might be shopping and spending money in their store. Or, like us, you might just be sleeping in their parking lot.

The drive to Hunting Island was just too long to do in a single day, so armed with my new Wal-Mart U.S. map, I selected a Supercenter on route that was about the distance we wanted to travel in one day.

That’s how we wound up in the parking lot of the Florence, SC, Wal-Mart the first night of our trip. There’s no sense trying to find a commercial campground in the dark and then paying $30 if all you want to do is sleep.
